How Deep Is My Love?
In
light of my fascination with Downton Abbey, it's not surprising it influenced my 2012 NaNo manuscript. Specifically, I mentally cast
Downton's housekeeper as the housekeeper in Lady Harriette: The Dawn of
Compassion (working title.) The Downton housekeeper's affection for the fallen
maid in season two was the impetus for my NaNo story housekeeper's compassion towards the young maid she hired to work at Beaconwood, the
Derbyshire estate of Colonel Fitzwilliam and Lady Harriette.
Here's where things become strange. The preview for Downton
Abbey season three episode four indicates that Mrs. Crawley hires a former
prostitute to work as a maid in her home. Oh my! Two days after watching the
PBS preview, the uncanniness dawned on me. The new maid at Beaconwood is a
former—shall I say—courtesan. Readers of To
Have His Cake (and Eat It Too) and What
He Would Not Do will know of whom I speak.
Friends threaten to turn against friends—wives against
husbands after the bombshell revelation of a certain ex-courtesan in their
midst. Will the Fitzwilliams and the Darcys emerge unscathed?
As for the fallout among my favorites at Downton, both
upstairs and below; I can hardly wait to learn how this scenario plays out on
the coming episode.
Coming in Spring 2013
Oh boy. This sounds angsty! I have THHC and WHWND but haven't read them yet, and I've only seen the 1st 2 episodes of s1 of Downton. I really want to get caught up and watch the rest on of these days!
ReplyDeleteYes--there's a bit of angst. I hope you'll enjoy reading THHC and WHWND. I have finally found a good use for my new Kindle Fire HD. I'm using the voice function to tackle my TBR pile. :-)
DeleteAs for Downton Abbey, be careful ... it's highly addictive.
I agree with Monica, it sounds angsty, but oh, so good! :) Will be looking forward to Lady Harriette's release in 2013! :)
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot to keep Richard, Lady Harriette, Darcy, and Elizabeth busy what with old secrets and new, along with embezzlement, kidnapping, and more. These two couples are quite amorous ;-) I'm enjoying the editing and revisions.
DeleteI'm delighted to know you are looking forward to the 2013 release. Thanks!
