Matter of Trust: The Shades of Pemberley

For the longest time, the relationship between the late Mr. Darcy and his godson George Wickham has intrigued me. My passion is asking Pride and Prejudice 'what-if' questions. It was simply a matter of time before I asked myself the following questions about the wayward lieutenant. What if he were not the son of the steward? What if he were of Darcy lineage? Would he have been a better man?

The answers came together for me while sitting in a restaurant in one of my favorite places in the world, historic Charleston South Carolina, when a much-loved oldie began playing. I knew this story before the song finished—from the beginning, to the middle, to the end. I put all other projects aside so I could capture it in writing.

A touch of romance ... Matter of Trust: The Shades of Pemberley differs from other stories I have written. Other stories follow my favorite couple through their conflict ridden journey towards falling in love. This story follows them on their journey towards learning to trust.

Matter of Trust is a story of family members believing one thing their entire lives, discovering the truth, and in the aftermath, learning to trust. A story about finding oneself in a situation not entirely of one's own choosing, about coming to terms with that fate, about learning to trust.

Read the sample excerpts. Know that it takes a different path. Should you decide to share this journey, enjoy!
